i was just trying to clarify.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to clarify the whole “Baekhyun making a joke about autistic kids” thing…

I know the source is somebody on Hallyu8 forums (somebody called Shithead) who knows Korean (or this is what somebody on the thread said)… But I, myself, am Korean and I am a native speaker of Korean. I also have plenty of Korean friends who agree with me when I say that Baekhyun most likely did not make an “autism joke.” 

If anyone is curious, there are around 3 posts on Instiz that verify this. Instiz, for those who don’t know, is a Korean portal site.

The thread on Hallyu8 states that Baekhyun said “자폐증의애들” and I, and most Koreans believe that this is untrue. This kind of joke also does not make sense within the context as he would never make such a remark in front of a camera, the Ivy Club photoshoot staff, and the 14 year old (13 in international age) 김유정.

Myself, as well as the majority of native Korean speakers I have discussed this issue with believe that Baekhyun actually said something along the lines of “자 패한 것들아” or “자 패한 자들아” or even “자 패한 애들아.”

This of course has a completely harmless and far more relevant meaning to the scenario (which is scripted and planned out as are all “making of” video shoots).

The phrase essentially has the effect of saying “alright you losers” or more accurately “so… the defeated ones…”

I’ve been seeing this issue blow up out of control, so I really wanted to clarify on the situation from a native speaker’s point of view. It’s easy to believe what anyone says, but that really shouldn’t be the case without verification. I have watched the video countless times, and I do not feel that it is right that someone should receive hate for something that he did not say.
